The Best Results Need More than Just AI

Helping growing companies thrive has been on my mind lately. Everyone seems to be rightfully embracing AI, often with people as a secondary or even tertiary consideration. Yet real success still hinges on having the right people doing the right work at the right time.

Like so many advancements, AI brings major promise along with some very real consequences. As a result, both large and small companies are adopting AI to make doing business easier. When data is well organized, AI can significantly reduce the time spent weighing options, spark new thinking in seasoned professionals, and take care of time‑heavy tasks like scheduling meetings.

For some, this shift has started to make people look redundant. And while the uncomfortable truth is that some roles will disappear, people are still essential to running companies effectively. What’s changing, and becoming more urgent than ever, is how people work.

As AI helps schedule work, kick off ideation sessions, and surface ideas that might otherwise be overlooked, everything moves faster. Yes, you should still walk down the hall or hop on a Zoom call to talk things through. But people also need clarity: where their work comes from, what inputs shape it, and where it goes next. Most importantly, they need to understand how their work impacts the company.

When integrating AI, it’s worth stepping back and looking at the entire system — not just the tools, but the processes behind them and how people and AI are meant to work together. Clarity here matters. When people understand their role, how AI supports it, and where their work fits into the bigger picture, they don’t just move faster — they feel more valuable. And when people feel valued and clear on their impact, better results follow for everyone, including the company.
